It depends! Demand for puppy classes can fluctuate, so we schedule puppy classes when we have enough puppies (we need 3-5 pups to have a class or 2-4 pups for a play group)! If you're interested in a puppy socialization class or play group, drop us a text at 512-773-4696 with your name, your pup's age, and the date you brought your puppy home, and we'll get back to you within 24 hours with our current offerings.

Puppy socialization matters — protecting a new puppy from disease is important, but so is proper socialization.Under-socialization has real risks — it can lead to fear, anxiety, phobias, avoidance, reactivity, aggression, and even behavioral euthanasia.Behavior, not disease, is the top killer — the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior (AVSAB) states behavioral issues are the leading cause of death in dogs under three years old.AVSAB's recommendation — puppies should get proper socialization before they're fully vaccinated.Always check with your vet — get guidance on which specific activities are safe for your puppy at their stage.For more info — read about our disease prevention practices

Help! My puppy is over 16 weeks old. Does that mean I can't socialize my puppy?

The primary socialization period in dogs is from around 3 weeks to around 13 weeks. During this developmental period, puppies learn what kinds of things are normal and not to be feared. If your puppy didn't attend a puppy class or have much socialization before 13 weeks, don't despair! Socialization can still be done after this age (that's why our puppy classes go up to 16 weeks), but it will usually require a slower and longer process to get your older puppy or adult dog accustomed to new things. In this case, we use a process of desensitization and counter conditioning to help improve the dog's association with unfamiliar things.
