The Social Pup
From adopting my first family dog, to working as a veterinary technician and shelter volunteer, I can't remember a time when I haven't been obsessed with dogs! In 2004, I graduated from a school for professional dog trainers in Central Texas, where I was taught balanced methods (rewarding good behavior but also punishing unwanted behavior). After graduation, I decided that punishment based methods were not okay with me. So I began my journey with positive reinforcement training, and haven't looked back! I have continued to add to my knowledge and skills as a trainer, with experiences ranging from working for a small training business to a major national pet retailer. I also hold a B.A. in English from The University of Texas at Austin.
Since dog training is an unregulated industry, I believe it is important for people to choose a trainer that adheres to ethical and professional standards. I am currently certified through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers. I am also proud to be a Fear Free Certified Trainer. I firmly believe that positive reinforcement methods are not only the most ethical, but also the most enjoyable way to train. I believe training is a lifelong journey, and one that should be fun!

"May the Fur be with you". Leia takes her job as guard dog very seriously. She ensures round the clock monitoring of the yard and house, and although we don't know if she would back up her bark with a bite, would-be thieves don't know either!

It's never a dull moment with Luke, a.k.a. Lucas Ruckus, a.k.a. Sir Licks a Lot, a.k.a. Uber Goober. Always ready to play, Luke fills our days and our hearts with all manner of canine vocalizations. When he's not busy "singing along" with the piano, he has a side gig as a blogger. :-)
